Marlene Kazman B.Sc., LL.B.

Practice Areas:
  • Family Law

Marlene is a senior associate at Garfin Zeidenberg LLP. She practices litigation with particular emphasis on matrimonial law. Marlene handles the full spectrum of family law matters including separation and other domestic agreements, divorce proceedings, property division and contested custody disputes. Marlene attends regularly at family law court case conferences, motions, and at mediations. Marlene has successfully resolved numerous matrimonial disputes on behalf of her clients.

Marlene has been a frequent contributor to the National Credit News providing articles on various subjects related to litigation, collection and debt enforcement. Marlene has also lectured at the Cannexus National Career Development Conference in Ottawa, in January, 2013.

By way of update, Marlene has made law in Ontario recently. In September, 2016, she won an interim motion for reunification therapy in favour of a father who had been denied access for over 1 year with his 13-year old child. Now, on the strength of this case, under appropriate circumstances, the Court need not rely upon its parens patriae jurisdiction to create an order aimed at rehabilitating a shattered parent/child relationship. Instead, the court may now make the appropriate order relying upon the case that Marlene won. Further, in 2018 Marlene won a motion to implement the parenting plan sought by her client, the father of a 13-year old girl.
